A Facade That Cannot Be Touched

An architect restoring the facade of a heritage-listed building in a protected district of Prague was told by two separate security integrators that a proper camera and access system simply wasn't possible without core-drilling and running new conduit through the original stone and plaster. That work would need a heritage-authority permit likely to take months, with no guarantee of approval at all.
The client wanted perimeter coverage for the restored building, but the architect was close to recommending they skip it entirely rather than gamble the project's timeline, and possibly the facade's protected status, on a permit application that might simply be refused. Neither integrator had offered any real alternative; both had treated wired conduit as the only option and left it there. A colleague who had worked with AION Networks on a similar protected-building project suggested a second opinion before the architect gave up on the idea.
AION proposed a UniFi mesh and wireless-bridge design covering every camera and access point across the facade and courtyard, with no new penetration through the protected stone or plaster at all. In the same meeting, AION walked through exactly which components in the design carried no permit requirement under the heritage authority's own rules, since nothing in the plan touched the structure being protected.
The architect left that meeting with an approved path forward instead of a stalled decision, and the client got full perimeter coverage without a single new hole drilled into the building's original fabric. AION completed the installation on the architect's original schedule, with no permit application required at any stage.
