A retail business in Budapest wanted AI-powered video analysis to flag unusual activity after hours, but the operations director stopped the project the moment a vendor's proposal mentioned uploading footage to a third-party cloud AI service with vaguely described data handling terms.

She had read enough about cloud video analytics providers reserving broad rights to use uploaded footage for "service improvement" that she wasn't willing to send months of her stores' interior footage to a company whose data practices she couldn't fully audit. AION deployed on-device AI analysis directly on UniFi hardware at each store, processing video locally so footage never left the building's own network to reach any external cloud service. The system flagged genuine after-hours activity in real time and sent an alert with a short clip, while raw footage remained stored entirely on-site under the business's own control.
