UniFi Travel Router Gets a Long-Range Version

UniFi Travel Router Gets a Long-Range Version

Ubiquiti has extended its compact UniFi Travel Router with a Long-Range variant, aimed squarely at the thing that actually limits WiFi on the road: a weak upstream signal, not the router itself.

What the original already got right

The original Travel Router covered the core case well: plug it into hotel or venue WiFi or Ethernet and get a private, secured network behind it, with wired and wireless uplink support and captive-portal handling built in. Since launch, Ubiquiti has kept improving it, adding smarter travel automation and expanded VPN support through AmneziaWG for better privacy on untrusted networks.

What Long-Range adds

The new version adds a fold-out, high-gain antenna array built for picking up weaker signals from further away, while keeping the same ultra-compact, USB-powered form factor.

For property managers and business owners who travel between sites, that means the same secured UniFi network follows them on the road: a private connection with an automatic VPN back home, no longer dependent on how good the WiFi happens to be at any given hotel or venue.

It's not a device AION installs at client sites, but it's a natural recommendation for anyone already living inside a UniFi-secured environment day to day: facilities staff, traveling business owners, and clients who want the same WireGuard-backed privacy outside the buildings AION manages for them.
